EUR ING registration privacy notice

Definitions

‘Licensed professional engineering Institution’ – a professional engineering institution that has satisfied the Engineering Council’s requirements to allow them to access and submit candidates for inclusion on the national Register of professional engineers and technicians.

‘National Register’ – a secure database that is used and accessed only by authorised Engineering Council staff in order to facilitate the registration of individuals.

Please note that the above-named data is submitted to us by the licensed professional engineering Institution that you are registered with and have chosen to apply for EUR ING registration through via post or email.

What is the basis for processing your data
The processing of your personal data by the Engineering Council is conducted based on legitimate interest in order to facilitate your EUR ING registration and all associated processes as outlined in 'What we use your personal data for'

Special or sensitive data
The EUR ING application form includes the collection of information relating to your nationality, this is not stored on the Engineering Council National Register and your application form is only submitted to FEANI. The Engineering Council does not process special categories of personal data or sensitive data in relation to registrants such as race, ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, etc.

Consent
By consenting to this privacy notice, you are giving the Engineering Council permission to process your personal data specifically for the purposes identified above.

You may withdraw consent to the Engineering Council processing your personal data at any time by contacting the Engineering Council’s Data Protection representative and requesting a form. However if you withdraw your consent we would not be able to facilitate your registration.

Sharing your data
The Engineering Council will share your personal data to the following third parties, without first obtaining your consent, for the following purpose(s) as part of our processing activities:

European Monitoring Committee To facilitate the assessment for your EUR ING application.
To facilitate the assessment for your EUR ING application. In relation to the maintenance and development of the National Register.


The Engineering Council will not share or pass on your personal information to any other organisation.

Retention
The Engineering Council will continue to hold the record of your EUR ING registration whether current or lapsed indefinitely. However, paper forms or files containing your data received from the licensed professional engineering Institution(s) that you are registered through in relation to the processing activities described in 2.3 will be retained for a period of 12 months from the panel date. After such time these files will be securely disposed of.

Data Security
All data held or processed by the Engineering Council is held in a secure database managed by the Engineering Council.
