Institute of Water Appoints New Co-Vice Presidents of Engineering

Two professionally registered engineers, Oliver Grievson CEng FIET FInstMC FIWA FIES FCIWEM and Sally Walters CEng Meng MPhil FICE FIET FWES MInstWater have been announced as The Institute of Water’s (IWater) new Co-Vice Presidents of Engineering.

Bringing in a wealth of experience and expertise, they will both play a pivotal role in shaping the future of engineering within the water industry.

Oliver Grievson has worked with several water companies and engineering consultancies over the course of his career and is currently an Associate Director at AtkinsRéalis, as well as a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Digital Water at the University of Exeter. He is a recognised expert in regulatory monitoring, supporting water companies across all aspects of wastewater compliance and investigations.

Sally Walters has over two decades of experience and has led the delivery of major specialist water and wastewater management engineering programmes. A strong advocate for the water profession, Sally actively contributes to the IWater Engineering Panel and also serves as a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor at Exeter University.

Both will be working alongside Engineering Council Trustee and IWater current Vice President, Jo Parker MBE BSc MBA CEng FICE FIWater FCIWEM, until she steps down this autumn. As Vice President of Engineering at the institute for the past seven years, Jo was the first woman to hold this position, as well as the first female National Chair of the Institute of Water. Jo reflected on her time as Vice President, saying “I am delighted to be handing over the role to such excellent members of the engineering profession who I know will ensure that the Institute’s firm foundation in technology and engineering will continue to be strengthened. The industry faces a huge engineering challenge over the coming years and strong leadership is essential."
