The Engineering Council's Annual Review 2024 showcases the organisation’s key achievements and activities from the past year.
As a charitable organisation, the Engineering Council remains committed to delivering public benefit, ensuring that society can trust professionally registered engineers and technicians to be both competent and ethically responsible.
2024 has been an eventful year, with two landmark achievements reached for the organisation.
The signing of our Mutual Recognition Agreement with the USA’s National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), establishing a streamlined process for recognising professional engineering qualifications between the UK and the USA, was the first of these.
We also received the formal approval from the Privy Council to create a Higher-Risk Buildings (HRB) Register for engineers and technicians working in the built environment sector, who have been assessed against the new UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence and Commitment Contextualised for Higher-Risk Buildings (UK-SPEC HRB).
For the first time in our Annual Review, we have included a section showing our year in numbers, with some key statistics including number of registered engineers and technicians on our Register and number of licensing reviews carried out.
