Update on Joint Accreditation Visits

Published: 28/05/2025

An extensive review of the Engineering Accreditation Board (EAB) operations has resulted in the closure of the EAB visit service.

The model of EAB visits with the Engineering Council providing the secretariat service without dedicated funding or contractual arrangements became unsustainable.

Alternative secretariat arrangements were considered. However, a consultation confirmed that there was insufficient demand to make proposals for an alternative Joint Accreditation Service viable.

If you’re looking to arrange a joint accreditation visit with more than one licensed professional engineering institution (PEI), you should contact your lead PEI - that accredits most of your programmes through joint visits - in the first instance. It is recommended to get in touch with them as early as possible to allow time to coordinate visits.

If a joint visit isn’t possible, or if not all PEIs or programmes can be included, you might need to speak directly with other PEIs to organise separate visits.
