Graham Taylor BSc CEng FIMechE

Nominated by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers

Raised on the west coast of Scotland in an engineering family, and fondly remembering visits to the nuclear power station construction site overseen by his father, Graham was inspired to study mechanical engineering. He has been involved with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) ever since.
 
He has worked primarily in heavy engineering, gaining experience across a wide range of challenges, projects, environments, countries and people. As his career has progressed, Graham has come to recognise the wider aspects of engineering, including professionalism, policy and regulation, and has sought to influence them through becoming increasingly involved with IMechE and their membership assessment process, eventually leading that function. More recently, Graham has brought that experience to the Engineering Council as a member and then Chair of the Quality Assurance Committee which assesses, awards and oversees licences for the Professional Engineering Institutions.
