Education and skills

Building the foundations for responsible engineering.

The knowledge, skills and behaviours developed through education and training provide the foundation for a career in engineering.

As the UK regulatory body for the engineering profession, we set the Standard for recognising learning and development programmes that meet the learning outcomes required for professional registration. Through approval and accreditation, we work with Licensed Professional Engineering Institutions to provide assurance that recognised programmes meet the criteria set by the engineering profession.

Whether you are choosing a course, developing an apprenticeship or qualification, or designing and delivering an engineering programme, our information and resources can help you understand what recognition means and how it supports the journey towards professional registration.
