Dave Castle is a Mechanical Engineer with over 40 years of experience across the defence, aerospace and wider engineering sectors. Professionally registered as an Incorporated Engineer, Registered CAD Manager and Chartered IT Professional, he has extensive expertise in engineering design, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Digital Engineering, digital transformation, and the application of technology within highly regulated scientific and engineering environments.

Dave is a Fellow, Immediate Past Chair of Council, and Vice-Chair of the Membership Committee of the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED). Through his governance and leadership roles, he has made a significant contribution to professional registration, standards assurance, and the development of engineering competence across the profession. In his professional career, he actively supports the mentoring, coaching, and development of engineers at all stages of their careers.

An experienced Professional Review Assessor and CPD Assessor, Dave contributes to the assessment and development of engineers against UK-SPEC, AHEP and AAQA requirements. His work within the IED has focused on strengthening professional pathways, supporting lifelong learning, maintaining confidence in the integrity of engineering registration, and promoting public trust in the engineering profession.
