The Engineering Council has published its Guide to Professional Registration for 2026–2027, providing the latest guidance on how engineers and technicians can achieve professional registration and demonstrate their commitment to high standards. The guide also brings together information on all Licensed Professional Engineering Institutions (LPEIs) and Professional Affiliates (PAs), helping readers find the organisation that best supports their professional journey.

Professional registration provides a clear framework for developing and demonstrating the competence and commitment needed to practise responsibly. It recognises the contribution engineers and technicians make through their work – helping to solve problems, protect people and the environment, and deliver better outcomes for society.

The updated guide explains the different routes to professional registration and the support available throughout the process. It is designed to help people at every stage of their engineering career understand how registration can support their professional development, while demonstrating the standards expected of responsible engineering professionals.

The guide is a useful resource for school leavers, careers advisers, employers, STEM ambassadors and others supporting people into and throughout engineering careers.
