The 2026 Women’s Engineering Society (WES) Awards are officially open for nominations.

These awards honour those whose achievements inspire the profession and elevate the visibility of women in engineering. They recognise professional achievement, technical excellence and contribution across engineering, applied science and technology, including awards for Chartered Engineers, Incorporated Engineers, Engineering Technicians, allies and long-standing contributors to the profession.

The 2026 Award categories include:

• Karen Burt Memorial Award – recognising excellence and potential in newly Chartered Engineers
• Men as Allies Award – honouring male professionals going above and beyond to support female colleagues and challenge gender imbalance
• Best Newly Incorporated Engineer Award – celebrating new Incorporated Engineers showing excellence and commitment to advancing the profession
• Best Newly Registered Engineering Technician Award – recognising exceptional newly registered Engineering Technicians who demonstrate outstanding professionalism, organisational impact and leadership potential
• Isabel Hardwich Medal – for outstanding, sustained contribution to the Women’s Engineering Society
• Gillian Skinner Award – recognising committed individuals making a difference nationally or within local WES clusters
• Amy Johnson Inspiration Award – celebrating a non-engineer who has made a remarkable contribution to diversity in engineering

Nominations close on 21 September. 

The winners will be celebrated at the Caroline Haslett Lecture and Awards Ceremony on 8 December.
