Engineering Council unites with science and environment bodies for first-ever joint registration webinar

Published: 08/09/2026

This October, the Engineering Council will be joined by the Science Council and Society for the Environment (SocEnv) for a first-ever collaborative webinar examining the value of professional registration across engineering, science and environmental practice.

Taking place on 7 October 2026, this event brings together Chartered practitioners from the three disciplines to explore how registration supports competence, professionalism and trust.

Each speaker will share their personal experiences of registration and reflect on how it has shaped their professional identity, development and contribution to wider practice.

·       Dr Evona Teh CEng FIET, Strategic Foresight and Innovation Lead at Jaguar Land Rover and Engineering Council Trustee, who describes registration as a framework that has shaped her engineering practice, leadership and long‑term thinking about the profession’s future.

·       Dr James Fox CSci, Head of Technical Operations at the University of York, is a long‑standing advocate for professional registration. He credits registration with helping him stand out early in his career and opening new networking and development opportunities.

·       Aya Youssef, Senior Environmental Consultant at Mott MacDonald and PhD researcher in climate resilience, who highlights registration as a benchmark of competence and a driver for integrating environmental considerations into infrastructure decision‑making.

The event is open to anyone, especially those considering professional registration, working towards it, or interested in hearing how registration supports responsible, inclusive and future‑focused practice across disciplines.
