Published: 26/06/2026

The Engineering Council would like to congratulate Christina Jasper IEng MIET, an Aerospace Engineer and Senior Technical Specialist, on receiving the 2026 Baroness Platt of Writtle Award and £1000 cash prize. The announcement was made at the Engineers Trust Awards Dinner in June and presented by HRH The Princess Royal.

Christina currently holds responsibility as the Wildcat Mechanical Systems Engineering Authority, where she manages all mechanical system issues on the platform, ensuring airworthiness, safety and operational effectiveness. Her responsibilities include the investigation of Defence Air Safety Occurrence Reports, the issue of Technical Instructions to the Front Line, and the delivery of robust airworthiness records and trend analysis.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology nominated Christina. The judges were impressed with her exceptional early career achievements, leadership and commitment to engineering excellence, safety and professional development.  As a Chinook Capability Engineer, she delivered an urgent software upgrade six months early through a flight test clearance process endorsed by the Military Aviation Authority, achieving a cost-saving of £1 million and earning a High Value Award from the Director of Helicopters.

Beyond her technical excellence, Christina chairs the National Armaments Material Air Engineering Development Network, supporting over 300 engineers, and actively promotes STEM careers and engineering apprenticeships through schools' engagement and national panels.

The award is named after Baroness Platt of Writtle CBE FREng, recognising her contributions to the engineering profession, particularly Incorporated Engineers (IEng). It is presented by the Charitable Trust Fund of the Worshipful Company of Engineers, through their trust fund, the Engineers Trust, in conjunction with the Engineering Council.
