Social media rules for users
The Engineering Council strives to create a positive and respectful space for everyone. To maintain this, please follow our house rules:
- All users must comply with both the platform's terms of use and these community guidelines
- You are fully responsible for the content you post or share. Please ensure it is appropriate and respectful
- Do not share personal or confidential information
- We reserve the right to remove, edit, or ignore any posts that we deem inappropriate, offensive or against our guidelines
- We will block and/or report users who send us direct messages that contain:
- Offensive or inappropriate images as their profile picture
- Indecent, discriminatory, abusive, threatening or obscene language
- Graphic, sensitive or offensive content
- False, deceptive or misleading information
- Violations of laws or regulations
- Spam (eg, persistent, negative or abusive messaging aimed at provoking a response)
Using social media
- Please note that by following us on social media, we do not automatically follow back
- We may use hashtags and mention other accounts when it is relevant
- Following, using hashtags or mentioning other accounts does not imply any endorsement from us
- While we may share or repost content that we find valuable or engaging, it should not be interpreted as an endorsement
- Occasionally, social media platforms may experience downtime, and we are not responsible for any interruptions in service due to platform issues
Views/feedback
- We welcome feedback, ideas, and interaction from our social media community
- Relevant insights and helpful suggestions are regularly passed on to the appropriate teams
- Please be aware that any 'like,' 'share' or 'comment' on our public posts will be visible to others
- If you post publicly on social media, we may choose to share or repost your content with our followers
- Additionally, we may tag, share or repost images and other content when we post on our own social media channels
Responding to enquiries
- Our social media accounts are monitored and updated during regular office hours (9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday)
- We aim to respond to all enquiries, whether public or private, as promptly as possible
- When appropriate, we will guide you to publicly available information or connect you with the relevant teams or departments for further assistance
- Please be aware that due to volume, we may not be able to respond to every message we receive
- Our LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and Facebook accounts are non-political, and we do not engage in political discussions or respond to political content
- We also do not respond to messages of a commercial nature
