The Engineering Footprint 2024 Update

Published: 05/03/2024

Recognising the necessity for a standardised definition of engineering, EngineeringUK, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and the Engineering Council collaborated to establish the 'engineering footprint.' This list of SOC codes was designed in 2017 to encompass all facets of engineering, providing clarity for organisations referring to engineering jobs and industries.

Below is the latest update on the Engineering Footprint, based on the 2020 Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) System.

This report provides valuable insights into the engineering workforce in the UK based on recent analyses and revisions prompted by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
