Information for further education providers and employers
Imparting industry relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours to your students, apprentices or employees through high quality provision is crucial to ensuring your reputation and success.
The Engineering Council works closely with Awarding Organisations and apprenticeship standard setting bodies to ensure that their qualifications and apprenticeship standards are recognised as meeting its standards of knowledge and/or competence and commitment. This ensures that those who study and train under recognised schemes gain industry-relevant skills and knowledge.
Approval of your qualifications and apprenticeships demonstrates that they have been independently peer reviewed by Licensed Professional Engineering Institutions. It shows that the qualification or apprenticeship meets some or all of the requirements for professional registration for the following:
- Chartered Engineer (CEng)
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng)
- Engineering Technician (EngTech)
- Information and Communication Technology Technician (ICTTech)
What does recognition mean for students, apprentices and employees?
Individuals choosing a recognised qualification or apprenticeship have the assurance of knowing that they are on a structured pathway leading to professional registration.
Holding a recognised qualification or apprenticeship provides evidence that the individual meets the standards set by the profession.
Recognition is a valuable marketing advantage to you as a provider, as it makes your qualifications and programmes more appealing. For knowledge based approved qualifications, demonstration of the required standard of competence and commitment is also required for professional registration.
Recognised competence-based programmes may meet the requirements in full.
Holding a recognised qualification or apprenticeship makes the registration process more straightforward.
