What we use your personal data for?

The personal data we collect will be used for the following purposes:

  • To submit your application for registration under the Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA)
  • To create a record of your application
  • For statistical generation, reporting and analysis of the data held on the International Register. All reports are anonymised so that they do not contain any personal data

What is the basis for processing your data?

The processing of your personal data by the Engineering Council is conducted on the basis of legitimate interest in order to facilitate your application under the Mutual Recognition Agreement and all associated processes outlined above.

Special or sensitive data

The Engineering Council does not collect or process special categories of personal data or sensitive data such as race, ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, etc.

Consent

There is no requirement for your consent to process your personal data as specified in this Notice unless it is outside the basis of Legitimate Interest.

Your rights as a data subject

At any point while we are in possession of or processing your personal data, you, the data subject, have the following rights:

  • Right of access – you have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you
  • Right of rectification – you have a right to correct data that we hold about you that is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Right to be forgotten – in certain circumstances you may ask for the data we hold about you to be erased from our records
  • Right to restriction of processing – where certain conditions apply you may have the right to restrict the processing
  • Right of portability – you have the right to have the data we hold about you transferred to another organisation
  • Right to object – you have the right to object to certain types of processing such as direct marketing
  • Right to object to automated processing, including profiling – you also have the right to object to the legal effects of automated processing or profiling
  • Right to judicial law - in the event that the Engineering Council refuses your request under rights of access, we will provide you with the reason why. You have the right to complain

If we receive a request from you to exercise any of the above rights, we will forward them on, as appropriate, to any third party involved (as stated above) in the processing of your personal data.
