Contract: Fixed-Term Contract - 12 months 
Salary range: £30k-£34k p.a.

The Engineering Council is seeking a Registration Executive to join our Registration team, supporting the operation of the Register of engineers and technicians working to our trusted professional standards.

In this new role your primary focus will be to process EUR ING registrations, maintain accurate records, and provide a reliable, professional service to registrants, partner organisations, and internal stakeholders. You’ll handle applications, renewals, payments, and data updates, ensuring high standards of accuracy and customer service at all times.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in a customer service or administrative environment
  • Confidence working with data, systems, and basic numerical information
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively within a team

Relevant experience or training in administration, customer service, data handling, or registration and membership systems would be an advantage.

About the role

The main purpose of the role is to support the Engineering Council in the day-to-day operation of our Register and related systems, with responsibility for the operation of EUR ING registrations and data processes.

The role is London based at our office at 10 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6EN.  We believe that hybrid working has many benefits and are pleased to offer flexible working with a baseline of six days a month in our central London office overlooking the Thames. Person specification

Essential Skills / Competencies

Customer service and communication

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a customer-facing or stakeholder-focused role, ideally in a registration, membership, regulatory or professional body environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to respond to queries clearly, confidently, and professionally.
  • Ability to explain processes and requirements accurately to a range of audiences, including registrants, partner organisations, and internal colleagues.

Data handling and accuracy

  • Experience of working with registration or CRM databases or administrative systems requiring high levels of accuracy.
  • Proven attention to detail, with the ability to check, validate, and correct data.
  • Understanding of the importance of data quality, confidentiality, and compliance with data protection requirements.

Numeracy and financial accuracy

Basic numeracy skills sufficient to:

  • Check numerical information carefully
  • Process payments, invoices, and reconciliations accurately
  • Ensure data passed to the finance team is complete and correct
  • Confidence working with figures as part of routine administrative processes.
Education / level of experience
  • No specific formal qualifications are required.
  • Relevant training or qualifications in areas such as customer service, administration, data handling, information management, or business support would be advantageous.
  • Equivalent skills and experience gained through work are equally valued.

Job Title: Independent Chair

The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) is seeking an Independent Trustee to join its Board of Trustees as Chairperson. 
You will help formulate, monitor and review our strategic aims and ensure best practice in governance. As well as leading the Board, the Chairperson will work in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer to help implement the strategic aims and optimise the relationship between the Trustees, the Institute’s permanent staff and volunteers.
The CIPHE is a registered charity and a professional body of circa 7,500 members. It also has an international presence through its members in some 30 countries as well as the direct support of around 150 manufacturing and merchant companies within the plumbing and heating sector. 
Applications are invited from those who are not members of the CIPHE, with an interest in public service and a passion for excellence who can demonstrate: 
  • Leadership skills gained in the community, business or workplace.
  • Strong communication skills – working closely with a wide variety of organisations including Government.
  • An understanding of how to set clear objectives and monitor performance.
  • The ability to contribute to the formulation of the Institute’s strategic direction.
The appointment, which will commence in 2026, is for a four-year term with a commitment to attend around five meetings a year.  The role is unpaid, but expenses may be claimed.
