Steve Burnage CEng CEnv FIMechE FSOE IMAAEES

A former Visiting Professor at the University of Surrey, Steve sat on the Centre for Doctoral Training Steering Committee as well as supervising PhD and EngD applied research into the optimisation of lightweight materials and efficient manufacturing processes offering low environmental impact.

Before his time as a Visiting Professor, Steve was the Head of Design Integrity at Lockheed Martin UK, and was responsible for authorising and certifying the performance of all the company products. Steve is an Emeritus Fellow of Lockheed Martin, in recognition for work in Composite Material development, analysis, application and deployment.

Steve is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (FIMechE) and a Fellow of the Society of Operational Engineers (SOE), in addition to being Chair of the Environmental Professional Sector at the SOE. He is an active volunteer with the Engineering Council, liaising with the Joint Moderation Board (JBM) of professional engineering institutions in aligning professional registration practice and procedures, as well as being an approved Professional Registration Interview (PRI) assessor for CEng and CEnv. Steve is also an Honorary International Member of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists.
