A new temporary working group, the Artificial Intelligence Working Group (AIWG) has been set up under the authority of the Engineering Council Registration Standards Committee (RSC). Drawing upon the expertise of the panel, the group will examine:

• Issues raised by the use of AI and implications for registration and programme recognition
• Opportunities and challenges associated the growth and use of AI in education and development as well as in the registration processes

The group will also:

• Advise the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) on licensing and quality assurance activities, and when these require detailed knowledge of:
  - Education and skills development
  - Evaluation of educational programmes against Engineering Council Standards and regulations
  - Assessing whether an educational programme conforms to the Standards and regulations
• Inform the Engineering Council’s responses to education and skills policy matters
• Share practice and communication with and between PEIs.
