Revised Standards to be published 1 September
Published: 30/07/2020
Following the Engineering Council's five-yearly Standards Review process, the revised Standards documents will be published by 1 September 2020:
- The UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence and Commitment (UK-SPEC)
- Accreditation and Approval of Qualifications and Apprenticeships (AAQA) (replacing the Approval of Qualifications and Apprenticeships Handbook (AQAH))
- Accreditation of Higher Education Programmes (AHEP)
- Registration Code of Practice (RCoP), which sets out the regulations for registration.
This follows a thorough process of consultation with stakeholders, including registrants, professional engineering institutions (PEIs), education providers and the general public. The documents have been reviewed and re-drafted by Working Groups of volunteer registrants, supported by Engineering Council staff.
Each published document will be accompanied by a summary of key changes from the previous edition and implementation dates will be as follows:

As part of the implementation process, we also expect to carry out a major review of the Engineering Council's guidance to PEIs, which will provide gap analysis and ensure full continuity and consistency from Charter & Bye-laws through RCoP, the Standards, guidance to PEIs and our internal processes.
All revised Standards documents will be available on our Standards page from 1 September 2020.
