Institute for Apprenticeships is recruiting Route Panel Chairs

Institute for Apprenticeships invites applications for Route Panel Chairs

Published: 24/11/2016

The Department of Education (DfE) is looking for applicants to be part of the new Institute for Apprenticeships. The Institute is being established as the regulator of Apprenticeship standards and assessment plans to ensure the quality of Apprenticeships in England. From April 2017 the new independent Crown body will aim to put businesses at the heart of the decision-making process.

DfE is currently seeking applications for 15 Route Panel Chairs. The Route Panels will be established in law to be responsible for setting the standards of knowledge, skills and behaviours needed by employers for every occupation in England. There are panels for engineering and manufacturing; construction; agriculture, environment and animal care; health and science; transport and logistics and ten others.

The 15 Chairs need to be experts in their respective sectors with a broad knowledge of occupations.

Each Chair will lead a panel of other members and oversee the approvals process for one of the 15 routes. They will be supported by an executive team that will ensure the panel has the right support to make robust decisions. The DfE is looking for people from businesses of all sizes and sectors and from a diverse range of backgrounds to fill these roles. The deadline for applications is 5 December and more details are available at
