Half year statistics show a rise in EngTech and female registrations

The Engineering Council’s registration statistics for the first half of 2016 show an overall rise in the number of new, final stage registrants joining the national Register, with particularly positive trends for EngTech and female registrations.

Since January, 1,116 new final stage EngTech registrants were added to the Register, representing an increase of 20.8% compared to the same period in 2015. Overall, the percentage of new final stage registrations for the EngTech, IEng and CEng titles increased by 9.1%.

There has also been an increase in the number of women engineers and technicians becoming professionally registered, with 549 new female registrants in the first half of 2016. This represents a 20.4% rise compared to the first six months of 2015. Of these, 436 became Chartered Engineers, making up just under 15% of all new CEng registrations during this period.
