EU STEM Coalition to launch three-year plan
Published: 24/09/2016
The EU STEM Coalition, which was established in October 2015, will kick-off a three-year strategic plan at its upcoming General Meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 29 September.
The Coalition’s main objective is to raise awareness among governments, industry and education, at national and European level, about the crucial role of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education in society. It aims to create momentum for the development and implementation of national STEM strategies across Europe. This will help to bridge the skills gap and ensure that the next generation of European engineers and scientists are in a position to respond to future challenges facing society.
The Coalition creates opportunities for peer learning in two Europe-wide meetings per year and organises taskforce meetings. Member States share their experience and knowledge to elevate STEM education and support those Member States that do not yet have national STEM agendas in place. The European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI), of which the Engineering Council is a national member, is a supporting partner of this Coalition.
The General Meeting will be hosted by the Danish National STEM Platform (ASTRA) at the premises of Metropolitan University College. More information regarding the EU STEM Coalition can be found here.
