The Engineering Council is aware of a high-profile issue concerning the activities of fire engineer Mr Adam Kiziak in relation to the sign-off of safety certificates in higher-risk buildings. We understand the distress this has caused for people who have been affected by the resulting loss of trust in EWS1 assessments.
Mr Kiziak has previously held the title of Incorporated Engineer but has been subject to disciplinary sanctions by the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) and has been suspended from the national Register of engineers and technicians since August 2024. The issue being reported in the media relates primarily to the activity of Mr Kiziak and his company Tri Fire Ltd after this suspension.
The Engineering Council is committed to working with Licensees to provide information and transparency regarding suspensions to professional registration. Further details can be obtained from the IFE website about the circumstances leading to the suspension of Mr Kiziak’s membership and professional registration.
We will continue to support the Institution of Fire Engineers as their investigation continues, and remain committed to working across the engineering profession to uphold the highest professional standards.
This article was published on 31/1/2025 and updated on 3/2/2025 to correct the professional title previously held by Mr Kiziak.
