Civil engineering, specialising in computer-aided design (CAD)
I work in civil engineering, specialising in computer-aided design (CAD) for highways and structural infrastructure. My role involves preparing detailed design drawings and models for international projects across the UK, the US, Canada, and India.
My mentors and managers across global projects have shaped my journey by challenging me with complex tasks and encouraging precision, which helped me grow into a confident and detail-oriented CAD professional.
Engineering allows me to contribute to real-world infrastructure that improves lives. It’s fulfilling to see my designs evolve into functioning roads, terminals, and structures that serve communities globally.
My CAD work ensures accurate and safe designs for highways and marine structures, supporting sustainable transport and infrastructure development while meeting international safety standards.
Receiving the Impact Award from the Jacobs company for my work on the M11J8 Junction Project for exceeding client expectations was a proud moment, recognising my dedication to quality and timely delivery on high-profile international projects. Achieving Engineering Technician (EngTech) registration from the Engineering Council UK also stands out as my proudest accomplishment. It validates my technical expertise and commitment to engineering excellence on a global scale.
Professional registration validates my skills and commitment to engineering excellence. It connects me with a global community and opens doors to international opportunities.
It means being accountable, precise, and ethical in every drawing and decision. Integrity ensures that the infrastructure we design is safe, reliable, and built to last.
It enhances credibility with clients and stakeholders, showing that I meet global standards. For my employer, it reflects a skilled workforce capable of delivering world-class engineering solutions.
I’d change the view that engineering is only technical. It’s also creative and collaborative, requiring vision and teamwork to solve real-world problems and shape the future.
By sharing my journey and mentoring young professionals, I aim to show that dedication and continuous learning can lead to a rewarding career in global infrastructure development.
