Accreditation for JBM is limited to Civil Engineering pathway |
Institution of Civil Engineers |
Accreditation has been approved by IPEM’s Course Accreditation Committee for accreditation of this MEng (Hons) Engineering course. Accreditation is subject to a revised action plan being submitted to IPEM in September 2022, which must address the requirements put forward in respect of this degree programme. |

This programme was accredited for the intake period 1992 - 2001 as a four year double award BA (Hons)/MEng. |
From 2002 intake onwards all pathways are IMechE accredited on the MEng Engineering Tripos but students have to complete two management modules from those in Group E in the final two years of the MEng course to meet IMechE requirements and be on an accredited degree (i.e module 3E5 Human resource management etc...) Therefore, acceptable variations of the MEng title: Aerospace and Aerothermal Engineering Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Information Sciences, Energy and the Environment Engineering for the Life Sciences, Information and Computer Engineering, Instrumentation and Control, Mechanical Engineering |
Accreditation is conditional on passing Part 2A & 2B in Group A, in each year. |
Streams: a) Fluids b) Design Materials c) Management & Manufacturing are IMechE accredited from 1992 intake. From 1997 intake graduates must have followed Group B (Mechanical & Materials) or Group C (Fluid Mechanics & Dynamics ie aerospace engineering degrees). |
InstMC: For pathways other than Instrumentation and Control, at least two modules must be taken from: Signals and Systems; Systems and Control; Robotics; Electronic Systems and Instrumentation; Control System Design; Robust and Nonlinear Systems and Control; Optimal and Predictive Control' |
For period 1992-2001 students could choose to exit with just a BA(Hons). This satisfied the education requirement for CEng. See course record 16506 |
