BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, has recorded a remarkable 23% rise in accepted applications from women for computing degrees since 2019. Degrees in computing science are growing more rapidly than for any other subject at UK universities.

Although, the figure is comparatively low against the number of men starting computing degrees, the rise was described by Julia Adamson, MD for Education and Public Benefit at BCS as “‘striking and important”.
