Universities seeking accreditation by three or more professional engineering institutions for a single programme or group of related programmes can request an EAB visit.
A number of EAB visits have been postponed due to the pandemic, and those scheduled for spring/summer 2021 will be held virtually. Decisions have yet to be made on whether visits scheduled for autumn 2021 will be face to face or virtual.
The need to fit in visits postponed due the pandemic alongside the usual schedule of visits will put extra pressure on visit schedules for a number of years, therefore it is important to make early requests for visits. We suggest sending your request at least 18 months in advance, if possible.
Submission documents are now available for EAB visits where accreditation is sought against AHEP 4 learning outcomes. These are published at www.engc.org.uk/eab
EAB visits are designed for accreditation of degree programmes delivered in a single location (or via distance learning, or with a placement) where a university is both the delivery provider and the degree awarding body, and where there is significant commonality between programmes. Universities must make clear on initial submissions and in accompanying emails if they are requesting EAB visits with a broader scope (eg if accreditation is being requested for non-degree programmes or programmes delivered elsewhere to the main university campus), and such requests will be considered on a case by case basis.
Further information about EAB visits, including submission documentation, is available at: www.engc.org.uk/eab
