The Graduate Engineering Engagement Programme (GEEP), run by The Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) with the support of organisations including the Engineering Council, has been nominated for a Business in the Community (BITC) Responsible Business Award.
GEEP is designed to increase the number of engineering graduates from diverse backgrounds who go into employment in the engineering industry. The programme is particularly targeted towards female students, Black Asian and Minority Ethnic students, and students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds or who attended the newer post-92 universities. Events are held around the country and attended by engineering employers who offer insight into the variety of engineering careers that are available and the recruitment process.
The Engineering Council contributes to these events by explaining the role of professional registration when starting and developing new careers, including registrants’ higher earning potential and increased career prospects.
The Responsible Business Awards are hosted by BITC and champion the most inspiring businesses who are taking steps to create more inclusive workplaces, build stronger communities and tackle our biggest environmental challenges.
Dates for 2019 GEEP events are currently been confirmed and employers interested in getting involved should email firstname.lastname@example.org.
