Opportunities for mentors to aid refugees back into work
Published: 04/12/2024
An appeal is being made to recruit volunteer mentors for a programme that aims to provide access to appropriate and fulfilling paid or self-employment for refugees to help them rebuild their lives in the UK.
The Engineering Council in association with the Refugee Employment Network (REN) is working with professional engineering institutions to pair refugees with mentors. The programme has potential for expansion based on demand.
The initiative began in May 2022, when the CEOs of the Engineering Council, Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), and the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) met to explore ways the engineering profession can assist refugees in finding employment.
REN will be hosting a training session for mentors on 30 January 2025, from 10am to 1pm. If you would like to attend, register here to secure your place. Please share this invitation with your network who may find the session beneficial.
