As part of the joint work between the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) and the Engineering Council on engineering ethics, twelve initial case studies have been produced by the Engineering Professors’ Council (EPC). The case studies' creation was one of the actions from the 'Engineering Ethics' report, ("Create ethics toolkits and case studies to support educational programmes and CPD".)   

They are aligned to the Engineering Council and RAEng Joint Statement of Ethical Principles and the Accreditation of Higher Education Programmes (AHEP) and are therefore appropriate for UK teaching and learning contexts. They are, however, easily adapted for use in other countries.

9. Water wars: managing competing water rights
10. Smart homes for older people with disabilities
11. Choosing to install a smart meter
12. Solar panels in a desert oil field

These case studies are part of the EPC’s Engineering Ethics toolkit, designed to help engineering educators integrate ethics content into teaching.

The toolkit currently includes advice and guidance on engineering ethics and how best to embed learning into teaching practice, ethics case studies for use in teaching scenarios and a curriculum map.
