What/who inspired you to become an engineer?
The thrill of transforming an idea into a tangible product inspired my pursuit of a career in engineering. The process of taking a concept, breaking it down into technical challenges, and then methodically solving those problems to create something new is endlessly captivating to me.

Please describe your role within the workplace.
I work as a Model-Based Systems Engineering Consultant for Capgemini Engineering. I have experience across dynamic industries, including nuclear submarines, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and hyper-cars. I value a systematic approach to work and am poised to make a significant impact wherever I go by implementing system thinking.

What is the most challenging aspect of your role?
Managing stakeholder needs and expectations is the most challenging aspect of my role. While standardised processes and clearly defined deliverables help, project requirements and goals frequently change, requiring adaptability and effective communication to navigate the evolving landscape.

What is the most enjoyable aspect of your role?
The most rewarding aspect of my role is the variety of responsibilities, collaborations, and subject matter. I have the opportunity to work on complex projects, alongside talented and knowledgeable individuals, on a diverse range of stimulating tasks.

What is the biggest career highlight or achievement you’re most proud of?
My most significant career accomplishments include presenting my work at prestigious industry events, including the INCOSE conference and the Farnborough Airshow. I take great pride in my Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) and Incorporated Engineer (IEng) certifications, which demonstrate my expertise and commitment to professional development. Additionally, I am honoured to have had a positive impact across multiple domains in my work.

Why did you choose to become professionally registered?
I pursued professional registration because I believe in the value of continuous growth and development. Embracing new challenges, setting ambitious goals, and embarking on new adventures enables individuals to become the best version of themselves. Engaging in professional development allows for self-reflection on one's achievements and facilitates ongoing growth and improvement.

I would recommend professional registration because…
The process is exceptionally enjoyable! Remember, we are all engineers striving to advance the field of engineering. Don’t hesitate to be bold—bold engineers can make a difference. You want to make sure you enjoy the process, it’s a chance to celebrate your achievements with people who understand the challenges of engineering.

What career advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t give up—it’s worth it in the end! It might feel like you’re not making progress, but persistence is key. Self-reflection can be challenging; growth isn’t always evident while you’re in the midst of it. However, once you complete the process, you’ll realise how much you’ve grown.

Do you participate in mentoring, volunteering, or membership of other engineering groups?
As part of my commitment to giving back to the community, I take great satisfaction in supporting my colleagues with their professional certification endeavours, such as the ASEP and IEng applications. Additionally, I derive immense fulfilment from collaborating on the implementation of new tools and technologies, as well as contributing to the personal and professional development of my peers.

If relevant, please list three favourite projects you have worked on
My most significant project experiences include the AUKUS nuclear submarine initiative, the Valhalla Aston Martin program and Capgemini's Research and Development efforts. These engagements have been particularly rewarding due to the diversity of the people involved and the breadth of responsibilities and challenges encountered.
