The Engineering Council introduced the ICTTech Standard to meet the demand for professional registration of competent technicians in this field. To achieve this, we worked closely with major employers of ICT technicians, Sector Skills Council representatives, and with leading professional engineering institutions with experience of fast-developing technology.
This document incorporates the ICT Technician (ICTTech) standard and sets out the procedures to be followed and the system of assessment for ICTTech registration. The standard details the competence and commitment which must be demonstrated in order to achieve registration, and gives examples of how this might be done. Further requirements are also described and supporting information is provided.
The ICTTech Standard is published by the Engineering Council on behalf of the UK engineering profession and it is periodically reviewed. It was most recently reviewed in 2013 and the second edition was published in January 2014. There is a transition period of up to two years. From February 2016, all ICTTech professional reviews will be conducted in line with this edition.
The key revisions in the second edition are outlined in the document on the right hand side of this page under useful documents 'ICTTech Standard second edition key revisions'.
Further information for those interested in becoming registered as an ICTTech can be found here.
