EUR-ACE Accreditation Framework
In September 2004 fourteen European countries commenced work on
constructing a Framework which describes good practice for
accreditation and also the outcomes (graduate attributes) which
characterise engineer ing qualifications at the Bologna First (B)
and Second (M) Cycle levels. Details of the project are on www.feani.org.
It is intended that this Framework be a template to which
existing national systems can be matched and on which countries
currently without accreditation systems can create a national
system. Where national accreditation systems and the outcomes of
the accredited national programmes nest within the Framework it is
envisaged that such qualifications may benefit from mutual
recognition within Europe.
ECUK has been heavily involved in drafting the Framework with a
view to ensuring that best practice is incorporated and that it be
compatible with the globally accepted accreditation norms. The
First Draft has recently been published and interested parties are
invited to provide comments to ECUK, preferably by email to jbirch@engc.org.uk
