Certification

ISO Presentation
At a presentation held at its offices in central London, Sir
Colin Terry, Chairman of the Engineering Council UK (ECUK ) was
presented with a Certificate confirming its approval to the quality
management system standard ISO 9001/2000. The
Certificate was presented by Chris Campbell, Business Development
Manager at Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd (LRQA), who is
himself a Chartered Engineer.
The award followed 15 months of hard work by ECUK staff, backed
by the Board, to establish the necessary procedures and
culture.
On receiving the certificate, Sir Colin commented "We hope this
award will help to demonstrate how seriously we take the integrity
of the Register of Chartered Engineer, Incorporated Engineers and
Engineering Technicians. We believe the rigour of the
Standard will help to build confidence in the value of
registration, and the even-handed nature of our procedures".
The certificate of approval covers setting and maintenance of
standards of competence for engineers, licensing of institutions to
promote and uphold the standards and maintenance of the register of
Chartered Engineers, Incorporated Engineers and Engineering
Technicians. In order for ECUK to maintain the high
standards set, it will continue to be evaluated during regular
visits by LRQA assessors.
