Sydney Accord

The ECUK is the UK signatory to the Sydney Accord - an agreement which provides a mechanism for mutual recognition between signatory bodies of engineering education accreditation processes. Each member of the group of countries involved has expressed its confidence in the quality assurance processes of the other countries. By extension this leads to the effective mutual recognition of accredited engineering qualifications, and, generally, to exemption from the education requirement for practice in each of the signatory countries.

Potential applicants with a UK qualification are encouraged to check whether their degree is accredited by consulting the ECUK accredited course database before applying for immigration or for membership of overseas engineering organisations. If you cannot find your course please contact us at international@engc.org.uk .

Holders of Higher National level qualifications (HNC, HND, HC, HD) not listed on the ECUK website who wish to utilise the Sydney Accord should submit a Qualification Assessment Request Form which can be downloaded on the right. This service is free of charge to registered Incorporated Engineers, but is available to all other applicants at the cost of £58.75.

Overseas engineers wishing to apply for registration under the auspices of the Sydney Accord should contact one of the Licenced Engineering Institutions for further details.
