University of Manchester Merger

Following the merger of the Victoria University of Manchester (commonly known as University of Manchester) and UMIST in October 2004, students entering courses from September 2005 are enrolled at the (new) University of Manchester, and the accreditations for entry 2005 onwards appear under University of Manchester (from 2005).

You are also asked to note that students graduating summer 2005 will receive a University of Manchester certificate but this can be exchanged for a UMIST or VUM certificate if the student chooses. This practice will continue to 2008 (for MEng) and 2007 for BEng.
