The Engineering Council works closely with EngineeringUK, and
submitted joint evidence, along with the Royal Academy of
Engineering to the 2009 government inquiry into engineering.
EngineeringUK's purpose is "to promote the vital role of
engineers, engineering and technology in our society and to inspire
people to pursue careers at all levels in engineering and
technology."
EngineeringUK is funded predominantly by the registration fees
of Chartered Engineers (CEng), Incorporated Engineers (IEng),
Engineering Technicians (EngTech) and Information and
Communications Technology Technicians (ICTTech).
