Firstly let me introduce myself. My name is Stewart Evans.
After I left school, I spent three years with a Civil
Engineering contractor and through day release studied an O.N.C in
Civil Engineering. I successfully passed that in 1990.

After about eight years
in Local Government, I joined Essex & Suffolk Water and haven't
looked back since. Since then I've had increasing roles of
responsibility. Now, at a grand old age of 32, I'm a
Development Manager, responsible for Leakage and Water Regulations
across the company. I have a desire to progress further and also
learn more, so I joined the Institution of Water Officers and
decided I should go for my Engineering Technician registration.
I see EngTech as my missing link. The
experience I have gained is great, but when you go to an employer,
this really adds value and allows them to see that you are taking
your own future seriously. I need now to be thinking about
what's next and continuing my professional development.
Looking back, I should have done this several years ago, though
admittedly, I would not have had the same experiences, such as three
months in the USA working at Atlanta Water, which helped me grow
professionally. Now I'm just looking forward to the next
step, IEng.
