Becky Ferris CEng
My name is Becky Ferris and I am a senior consultant with RWE NUKEM working on a
diverse range of nuclear projects. Recently I have moved away from
straight-forward engineering, to work within small teams to determine waste
management and decommissioning strategies, as well as managing pilot plant
trials.
Becky Ferris
At present I'm working towards obtaining my Chartered Status by
becoming a Member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers. Becoming a
registered engineer is very important to me as it demonstrates that I am
professional in my work and that I have the experience, as well as the
qualifications, required to be a competent engineer.
I currently work on two DTI projects based within the Former Soviet Union.
One is concerned with Spent Nuclear Fuel at a former Naval base.
The second project is working on the Arctic Military Environmental Co-operation
(AMEC) programme which is a multi-lateral agreement project between Russia ,
the US , Norway and the UK for maintaining buoyancy and determining the
strategies for transporting decommissioned nuclear submarines within the Former
Soviet Union.
As you can see I am fortunate to work in Russia and the UK on projects that are
both technically challenging and environmentally important, all on high
importance projects and in the future I'll be travelling to Kazakhstan !
I believe that my degree has given me essential skills which can be applied to
a wide range of projects, and that being a Registered Engineer can only
increase the opportunities available to me.
